I went to visit my friend Alesis in New Hampshire over the weekend. She was kind enough to take me in even though it was a last minute plan. The whole weekend was gorgeous and fun. We drove over to Portland, Maine and saw some sights, did some awesome thrift store shopping and generally caught up on life.
Saturday night she offered me a towel and asked if I would like to shower. "No thanks, I showered this morning and I will be home tomorrow night." I replied.
"Ok, well I know you don't shower on Sunday's." she said.
Boom. She knows! How does she know? Oh, right. Friends! We are friends so she knows my shower-free-Sunday quirk. It caught me off guard, I really didn't think she knew.
I forgot the delightful freedom that comes when someone knows the side notes about you. So often I compromise my honesty for the sake of diplomacy or get lazy and don't really express myself when I have the opportunity. I do love diplomacy and all parties feeling comfortable but the truth needs to be said too.
I don't shower at night, if I can help it, or on Sundays.
So thanks Alesis, for maple syrup covered applesauce on top of maple peanut butter on a crispy waffle and for being my friend.

lol - I understand your sentiment here. Sometimes it's just nice to be with people who know.
I love this kind of writing--when one little incident says what you could have taken a whole essay to say.
Love this! Only wish I could have seen you too...
