Very Very Pregnant (and fat) Sally

Sally had her baby last night! Its another black and white calf, very similar to her first born.
Here is a little introduction to Sally, if you haven't had the chance to meet her.

If you read the earlier post about Sally you may remember the affection she received. All the milking of Sally's milkers when she was young made her bag scar and though she produces some milk it doesn't come out.
This started out a happy post about our pet having a baby but I will finish the story to its unfortunate end. My sister Anna was sitting here with me doing the typing and wanted to include the bit about Sally not being able to feed her babies. I didn't think it necessary to bring up but she felt it was important to add. She is in bed now and I have full editorial control but I will respect her wishes. The sad ending is that Sally will get sold because can't raise her young. This is particularly awful because we caused the problem She would have been sold last month but the trailer got full and so she was able to go to pasture once more. Anna and Madalyn accept her fate like good little farm girls but there is no love like the first love. Until she goes we will feed her baby and scratch her head because she will always be our Sal Pal.

As my sisters used to say, "Sal Pal, because she is a Sal and she is a pal."

This makes me sad. I probably wouldn't make a good farm-girl that way. :) I hope her last few days on the farm are glorious.

Tis a good thing that I frequent your blog... because this particular post has changed!

Poor Sal Pal. Is she still on the farm?

Good thing she missed that trailer load. Who knew that she would live another 11 happy years on the farm being the queen that she was? We will always treasure the memory of Sally. ❤️
