find me a find

The career matchmaker gave me nice little list of options for future employment. Yes, I am searching for something else to do. My wait-and-see-what-happens-with-life-default plan is getting harder and harder to roll with.

After answering all the assessment questions I was presented with my top ten career choices.

1. Film Editor- the hippest sounding choice by far. I don't know if I know enough about editing to judge this choice but it sounds like a lot of tedious in front of the computer stuff.

2. Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner-Who decides what careers are put into the bank? Just because I am detailed, enjoy cleaning and like to be on my feet doesn't mean that cleaning carpets and couches sounds fun. (if it sounds fun to you- go for it.) Tis true that I am obsessive about cleaning my lint collecting couch and rug- but I like living in a clean house. I like you to live in a clean house too but thats besides the point.

3. Building Superintendent- Nope. Sounds awful. I think this one came up because the central aspect of being a building superintendent is "being well organized and tidy with practical tasks" and I marked that liked doing that "very much".

4. Custodian- Respectable work that I feel passionate about but some hobbies are best left as hobbies not careers.

5. Fast Food Worker- What? Seriously? I feel like my medical tech job is dead end enough for me. Thanks, though. I think this could almost be a compliment because being a fast food worker is hard. Could YOU endure it?

6. Housekeeper- Am I sensing a cleaning theme here?

7. Waste Collector- This has been on every career test I have taken. Which I think doesn't mean a thing.

8. Animal Caretaker- I am assuming this is different than being a vet? More like a person who boards animals I guess. Or a cat lady. Yeah.

9. Fruit and Vegetable Grower- Sounds yummy and remarkably close to farming. Hm.

10. Heavy Equipment Operator- I have always prided myself on being a capable person. I think that I would get that capable feeling often. Taco bell might be a better choice for my salvation.

You crack me up.
But seriously, you have so many awesome attributes, talents, and gifts. I can't wait so what God has in store for you next. I'm so glad that I'm gonna be here for it!

Wait, what's wrong with "wait-and-see-what-happens" again? I kind of like that option. Although waste collector might call for a close second. :)

P.S. You could be a matchmaker, actually. I hear they get paid pretty well these days. :)

Maybe you should consider a career in comedy. This is hilarious.

Maybe I should feel a little guilty laughing at your "future"...but I don't, because I know that in reality, you're going to find your spot. And it will be a very clean - but also very fulfilling - spot :)

P.S. It just occured to me that, with slight tweaking, you could encorporate all of these jobs into one: Wedding Facilities Manager.

Think about it! Maybe more catering than fast food... and animal caretaker might be a bit of a stretch, but Natalie had ducklings and a donkey at her wedding. Or maybe you could watch people's pets while they're on their honeymoons.

Mmm, food for thought ;)

I would like to propose the best option of them all . . . European Bible School worker!!! Yeah!
Although I would like to hire you as my matchmaker. . . then you can watch my pet dog for me and make sure my couch is clean while I'm on my honeymoon and take out the trash (a very big deal here in Norway)

PS (everyone else was leaving one so I wanted to too.)
I hope you don't forget me when you are making your millions of dollars as what ever career you pick.

Oh, Elisa!

I really like that you are blogging now...because I really like you.
I understand the career quest. Keep asking questions and trying new things.
I recommend the Myers-Briggs personality and career test. It kind of helped me. ;)

Take care, friend.

Wow, Elisa, I can't wait to see what you do. Someone told me that life is like a train stop. There are hundreds of trains going by, and eventually one has to get on a train and go somewhere, and if they find out the don't like where it took them, they can always get on another train and go somewhere else, but the train stop itself is kind of ugly and boring, and watching hundreds of trains go by can be really get old.

God bless as you make decisions about your future.
