I saw a beautiful recipe for red basil lemonade in a magazine a long time ago.
The picture was so yummy looking that I wanted to make it right away but I didn't have any red basil. And so I waited until spring planting season when the stores are stocked with tasty things to grow.
No one carries red basil plants around here- none of the chains or nurseries had the plants to sell me but they did have the seeds. So the red basil has been planted and depending on exactly how long the miracle of new plant life takes we could enjoy some red basil lemonade in July.
Eventual gratification? Gradual gratification?
I don't actually like red basil but lemonade is one of my favorite things. It could be good together? I might have a lot of beautiful but strange tasting lemonade to share. Give me a few months though, its kind of a process.
Waiting is humorous when its a recipe ingredient you are watching grow and blossom, agonizing when its your life.

Yes! You'll have it perfected by the time I get back! Can't wait to try some--I love me some basil. Don't know about red basil, but it sounds good. :)
The waiting place... you should re-read some Dr. Seuss
Thanks for sharing so candidly the realities of life. I have been entertained, encouraged, and inspired by your eloquent prose. You and your sister are both gifted writers!
