refueling

For my lunch break at work I like to walk to my meal. Out the door I go, straight across the parking lot and into other worlds. I step between the shrubs that border the bank and into their parking lot with the pools of roses. After the bank I navigate the busy gas station with all the cars getting their own sort of meal. The pavement is darker here than at the bank, it's stained and greasy. Taco Bell is always crowded with people that I don't want to talk to and so I get it go and eat outside. The best place to sit with my burrito is on the storm drain where it's relatively secluded.

Yesterday, I continued my walk into the store where the cashier complimented my purchase of an apple, ice cream snickers and a candle. "What a nice combination," cashier lady said. We agreed that it was going to be a good afternoon. The ice cream was for the walk back to the office; apple to eat at six when I get raging hungry and the work day isn't near done and the candle smelled good.

The candle was because someone had left food in the fridge so long the patients in the next room noticed the odor. It was terrible, particularly for the pregnant girl in the office whose nose and gag reflexes are working so well. Cleaning wasn't taking the smell of rotten beans away fast enough and the boss lets us light candles though I doubt it's proper in the legal sense.

Next time maybe I will turn right in our parking lot and go the other direction towards Sonic and the Garden Center. Just to see what it's like.

I think you should make a video of your walk! Including the birds...getting their lunch?

I miss hearing these daily details when you'd come home from work.
