When I was away from the homestead and everyone else was there, anything my sister would write I read and reread trying to soak it all in and feel like I was still a part of it. Now I am the one at home so most of these tidbits of life are for her...
Anna and Madalyn are good about not being picky eaters and have a cute way of talking about foods they like and don't like. Foods you don't like are referred to as being in the stage of "learning to like them." Things you don't like to eat must be a big topic at school because every afternoon they go over who doesn't like what.
I don't like molasses. Don't tell them that though. They LOVE molasses. Honey is fine and sorghum is nice but they can't get enough blackstrap molasses. Most nights after supper we have molasses and peanut butter on bread. I have Canadian honey instead and they always ask me if I am learning to like molasses. I am not but I eat some sorghum in an attempt to try. Its a good gateway to the powerful blackstrap.

These. Tid bits are fun for the rest of us too. :)
This made me cry first, then a little chuckle too.
Yum, molasses! But saying "I'm learning to like it" is a really good attitude. I'm impressed! I've learned in life that you really can acquire a taste for just about anything. I finally conquered eggplant. I'm still learning to like kale...
